Working Environment :
Work hours for technicians average 40 to 45 hours a week, but one may work in shifts with a rotational week off as the position requires 24/7 coverage. The technician may need at times to travel to the client’s site.
As per the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), employment for support technicians will increase 11 percent between 2016 and 2026. With a growing demand for technology and IT services present in the workplace, support technicians remain in high demand.
Usually, the IT Support Technician holds an essential degree in computer science or a related field. A candidate with a high school diploma can also obtain on-the-job training to enter the field.
The technician can enhance effectiveness on the job as well as their career prospects by continuously learning new skills and gaining new IT certifications. With many certifications present in the field, some of the more important ones are listed below:
